French journo explains Manchester United’s Nabil Fekir ‘offer’

Reports that Manchester United have tabled an offer to Nabil Fekir appear unsurprisingly off the mark.

The Lyon captain’s future remains uncertain after the late disintegration of his £53million move to Liverpool at the beginning of the month.

Negotiations broke down late on in the process as a result of concerns raised by Liverpool over his medical following the agreement of a fee and personal terms.

Insinuations since then that a deal could still be resurrected have been bolstered by Fekir’s evident desire to join the Reds.

In a typically bizarre turn, a report in France suggested Manchester United had made an offer to Fekir in a possible attempt to steal a lead on Liverpool.

French journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin was quick to justify expectations that this was simply a ploy to trigger Anfield officials into stepping up the club’s pursuit.

In a statement on Twitter, he wrote: “The interest of for is created to push to increase its offer for the player. Fekir still wants to go to Liverpool.”

For Fekir to have his heart set on a move to Merseyside seems only natural having gone as far as conducting interviews with the club’s official website in preparation for his expected unveiling.

Both Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas and Fekir’s agent have admitted that talks could potentially be revived when the playmaker returns from the World Cup with France.

As it stands, it appears Liverpool remain in the driving seat as to what the future holds for Fekir.
