Liverpool’s next signing pictured on Merseyside ahead of Melwood appearance

Fabinho has touched down on Merseyside ahead of the completion of his summer move to Liverpool.

The Brazilian will officially become a Red on Sunday after the club agreed a deal to sign him from Monaco at the end of May.

He is expected to join for a fee in the region of £43.7m and seemingly represents a replacement for Emre Can, who recently sealed his free transfer to Juventus.

Jurgen Klopp is set to welcome back a host of players for pre-season training upon the turn of the month, with the club’s first friendly scheduled to take place on July 7 against Chester.

That group is now likely to include Fabinho, who was one of those not selected for World Cup duty.

The midfielder will be joined by Naby Keita in making it official after the Guinean’s unveiling and participation in a light training session at Melwood on Wednesday.

Klopp’s capture of both previews a potentially refurbished Liverpool midfield ahead of the new season in preparation for not only Can’s departure, but also Jordan Henderson’s extended break after the World Cup and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s long-term knee injury.

Between Fabinho’s physicality and passing range and Keita’s driving runs from deep, Liverpool flaunt a duo capable of bolstering the team at both ends of the pitch.

It now remains to be seen who will fill the widely-coveted no.10 void that Nabil Fekir had been tipped to occupy prior to the collapse of his move.
