Liverpool officially seal their third signing of the summer

Liverpool have bolstered their youth ranks by sealing the signing of Chelsea midfielder Isaac Christie-Davies.

The 20-year-old becomes the club’s third signing of the summer transfer window after completing a free transfer from Stamford Bridge.

His arrival serves as a reward following his encouraging trial at the Kirkby Academy back in March, which saw him make two Premier League 2 appearances for Liverpool’s U23s.

Besides completing his move to Anfield, Christie-Davies has also signed up to Juan Mata’s Common Goal scheme, which sees footballers donate at least 1% of their salaries to various charities around the world.

Christie-Davies is likely to play a prominent role for Neil Critchley’s U23s next season on the back of their superb second-placed Premier League 2 finish in 2017/2018.

Critchley’s men fared admirably to maintain a title challenge over the second half of last season having seen a number of youth stars depart on loan deals during the January transfer window.

The absence of high profile figures such as Harry Wilson, Ovie Ejaria and Marko Grujic subsequently paved the way for U18s star Curtis Jones, Adam Lewis and Rafa Camacho to test themselves in the higher age bracket.

With similar figures all expected to pursue first-team football again, Christie-Davies could become one of the more experienced figureheads in light of his 45 appearances at youth level Chelsea.

His situation bares similarities to that of Dominic Solanke, who joined the Reds upon the expiry of his contract as a result of the tough route to senior football with the Blues.

Liverpool’s new man has been successful at academy level, winning the UEFA Youth League with Chelsea in 2016.
