World Cup star hints at transfer after LFC medical rumours

We’re pretty confident Xherdan Shaqiri will be a Liverpool player in the not too distant future.

After all, there’s only just over one month of the transfer window left – what a scrap it’s going to be at the beginning of August for all Premier League clubs to get players in!

The Swiss international was knocked out of the World Cup on Tuesday, after his side lost to Sweden, so is now free to complete a deal from Stoke, who were relegated at the end of last season.

When asked about his future, Shaqiri said, “I want to stay in the Premier League, and you will find out my new club soon,” although the Express said Manchester United are also considering an offer.

Last night, there was heavy rumours on Twitter that Shaqiri would do his medical at Melwood today, although, we stress, this hasn’t been confirmed by a credible source.

‘Credible sources’ though have got plenty wrong this summer, including the premature announcement of Nabil Fekir and the lack of knowledge about the Fabinho transfer before it came to light.

So let’s see what happens. Shaqiri as a replacement for Coutinho is underwhelming, but if the 26-year-old is signing as a squad option, we’d be quite pleased.

Hopefully, a deal for Fekir can be revived and we’ll head into next season with plenty of firepower all over midfield and up front.
