(Video) Watch Ryan Kent score cracker as Liverpool hit seven past Chester

Ryan Kent picked up where he left off last pre-season by making his presence felt back in a Liverpool shirt.

The winger scored a superb strike from outside of the box to help the Reds towards a 7-0 win in their opening friendly against non-league side Chester.

His crisp effort maintained celebrations among the spectators, arriving seconds after it was announced England had scored in their World Cup quarter-final triumph over Sweden.

Kent picked up the ball on the left-hand side before cutting in on his favoured right and finding the far corner in spectacular fashion.

Kent’s effort followed up the first of Daniel Sturridge’s two to make it two goals in three minutes for Liverpool in the second half.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went ahead in the 36th minute thanks to a gently-lofted finish by Harry Wilson after Alberto Moreno’s initial effort rebounded into his path.

The Welshman was at hand to double his and Liverpool’s tally on the stroke of half time when he ran onto Curtis Jones’ expertly-directed through ball before slotting home from close range.

James Milner made it three from the penalty spot shortly after the interval, before Sturridge and Kent turned a comfortable win into an emphatic one.

There was still time left for Danny Ings to made is six and Sturridge to seal a brace with a nonchalant curling effort from outside the box.

A goal served as a much-needed confidence boost for Kent on the back of disappointing loan spells with Bundesliga side Freiburg and Championship playoff hopefuls Bristol City either side of New Year last season.

It also continued his fine summer form for Liverpool, with the Englishman flourishing in the club’s preparations last year – particularly in the 4-0 win over Bayern Munich.
