Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk, in our eyes, one of the very best in his position on the planet, has promised fans he’ll do everything in his power to help us collect some silverware this coming campaign.

The exact moment Van Dijk decided he wanted Liverpool is amazing…

Last season, van Dijk played a huge role in our progression to the Champions League Final, but for reasons that have been well publicised and drawn out, we lost to Real Madrid and ended the season trophy-less.

In fact, since winning the FA Cup in 2006, we’ve won just one League Cup, losing a handful of finals in various competitions along the way.

“We’re going to work our socks off and do everything possible to make it happen this season. We were very close to silverware but obviously not close enough,” van Dijk told Liverpool’s website, cited by the Independent.

“I can improve in any aspect of the game. At the moment, it’s getting back to full fitness, making sure I’m getting better and stronger than I was before. I will work every day and do everything possible and no doubt it will happen.”

We think Liverpool’s starting defence from the Champions League Final will be our first-choice for the new season, actually.

Dejan Lovren has proven at the World Cup that he’s good enough to play alongside the Dutchman, while Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are two of the most promising fullbacks in Europe.

We have an issue with Loris Karius, but if Jurgen Klopp is prepared to back him, so are we.
