Sometimes the behaviour of other Premier League clubs baffles us.
Today, Chelsea announced that Antonio Conte had been fired on their official website with the following statement:
“Chelsea Football Club and Antonio Conte have parted company.
“During Antonio’s time at the club, we won our sixth league title and eighth FA Cup. In the title winning season, the club set a then-record 30 wins in a 38-game Premier League season, as well as a club-record 13 consecutive league victories.
“We wish Antonio every success in his future career.”
Conte won Chelsea a title against the odds and backed it up the following year with an FA Cup, yet has been fired without so much as a ‘thanks’ or any gratitude from his now former employers.
In reality, it’s none of our business, but the reason we publicise this is because it’s a reminder that we support a club with genuine values that still hold true.
When Liverpool sacked Roy Hodgson, the club still thanked him for his services.
The world agrees with us, too:
Words's in Chelsea's statement: 52.
Matches won by Conte at Chelsea: 70!

Antonio Conte won more matches (69) as Chelsea manager than there were words in Chelsea's official statement (61) announcing he has left. Concise.

Can't help but feel that Conte's sacking has been handled incredibly badly. It's been coming for about 6 months, has somehow dragged into pre-season and Chelsea's statement is curt, aloof, and in no way respectful of a guy who won them the Premier League and the FA Cup.

Finally, the confirmation arrives of Conte's sacking…and it's all of three lines with no quotes. Suspect lawyers from both sides could be working on this one for a while #cfc https://t.co/1a450ksjPQ

Now, Chelsea look set to appoint Maurizio Sarri and bring in Jorginho, a former Liverpool target, from Napoli with him.
Sarri plays beautiful, passing football, so it’ll be mighty interesting to see his Blues next term and what they can offer.
We hope that Real Madrid poach Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante, though, as without that duo, they’ll struggle.
