Italian journalist makes big claim & Paul Joyce immediately follows him

Can all this talk of an official Alisson bid be smoke and mirrors?

Italian outlet Il Messaggero claim that Liverpool have submitted a bid worth €60m+€10m in add-ons for AS Roma stopper Alisson, and this morning, that was backed up by TMW journalist Gianluigi Longari.

Interestingly, no English journalist has confirmed the reports, but Times correspondent Paul Joyce immediately started following the Italian.

You can see as much below:

It would be our assumption that Joyce is has started Longari in order to communicate with him via DM, although we fully understand we’re now delving deep into a transfer rumour rabbit hole that may not exist in the first place!

So hypothetically believing Liverpool have submitted a bid, there’s still plenty of work to be done.

Roma’s honcho Monci has to accept, and with Chelsea also keen, that’s by no means guaranteed. In fact, the Spaniard might use our offer to lure the Blues (who could soon be without Thibaut Courtois) into a bigger one.

Then, we need to get Alisson’s pen to paper and get him through a medical, which Nabil Fekir proved isn’t automatic either.

Still, we have hope. Michael Edwards has done well so far this window, but a top goalkeeper would really top it off.
