Alisson compared to Lionel Messi by Roma coach

Liverpool have been given an unbelievably glowing recommendation of Alisson by a former AS Roma goalkeeping coach.

Roberto Negrisolo has waxed lyrical about the Brazilian, actually comparing his ability to Lionel Messi, extraordinarily.

Alisson looks set to complete his Liverpool transfer imminently. The 25-year-old is currently in the city undergoing a medical and it would be our assumption that providing everything goes well, the deal will be announced this evening.

“The way he behaves in the goal, he reminds me of Dino Zoff,” Negrisolo told Goal. “I’d also compare him to Michel Preud-Homme, who had the class of someone born to be a goalkeeper.

“I told Alisson when I met him at Roma’s Trigoria ground that he was born for this. He was already strong when he arrived, but has improved even more since he has been in Italy.

“I don’t think many people have realised who Alisson is. This guy is a phenomenon. He is the number one of number ones.

“He is the Messi of goalkeepers, because he has the same mentality as Messi. He is a goalkeeper who can define an era.”

If you weren’t excited before, you will be now!

In the same report by Goal, some incredible statistics are also shared on just how good a season Alisson enjoyed in 2017/18.

Only David de Gea and Jan Oblak (arguably the best two stoppers on the planet), posted better save percentages than Alisson in Europe’s top five leagues.

But just as importantly, Alisson produced more ‘sweeper keeper’ interceptions than any other stopper and completed the second most passes of any stopper, as well.
