Nabil Fekir to receive new offer that will define future this summer

Lyon are set to offer Nabil Fekir the chance to diffuse uncertainty over his future once and for all by extending his stay at the club.

The Frenchman’s future has been left in doubt since negotiations over a £53million move to Liverpool were ended at the beginning of June.

Anfield officials were allegedly concerned over unnerving results from Fekir’s medical in relation to an underlying knee problem.

Despite suggestions a deal would be resurrected after the World Cup, Liverpool are yet to move and the situation remains unchanged.

Lyon are now preparing to offer Fekir a new contract at the club and renewed personal terms, according to French outlet Le Progres.

Fekir himself went as far as conducting interviews with Liverpool’s media department in customary preparation for his unveiling.

There is now a growing feeling on Merseyside that the club’s business is finished as far as incomings are concerned following the £65million arrival of goalkeeper Alisson.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has remained open to Liverpool reigniting their approach for Fekir, although recently admitted he now expects the 25-year-old to stay put.

Fears over the Reds’ failure to find a Philippe Coutinho are partially being eased by reminders of Naby Keita’s attacking qualities during the early stages of pre-season.

Given the club’s recent tendency to catch both the media and fans by surprise with new signings, it would be unwise to entirely rule out Fekir until transfer deadline day passes.
