Klopp hits back at Karius who claims he was left in dark over Alisson

Jurgen Klopp has stood by his decision not to tell any of the goalkeepers Liverpool were signing Alisson.

The Brazilian arrived at Anfield over a week ago for £66m, becoming the world’s most expensive stopper, but Loris Karius has claimed disappointment at not being made aware beforehand.

“Listen, I didn’t walk through the dressing room and tell the midfielders that I was signing Fabinho or Naby Keïta,” Klopp told the Guardian, when asked about Karius’s comments.

The German is now not going to be our no.1 and has under two weeks to find a new club if he wants to be first-choice somewhere else.

We actually think it would be a smart decision from Karius to get himself out of Liverpool, potentially on loan, and regain confidence elsewhere, as the spotlight on his every performance right now is simply too great.

He’s bereft of confidence and that’s been very obvious throughout the pre-season friendlies, in which he’s committed two howlers so far.

Perhaps a temporary move back to Germany will be best, as that’s where he initially made a name for himself.

If we do allow his departure, Klopp will likely have to bring in a new no.2, as relying on Kamil Grabara, only 19, for an entire campaign may be a little risky.
