LFC could embarrass Chelsea once again; Blues in talks for Klopp favourite

Liverpool have Chelsea’s number in the transfer market.

We snared Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from under their noses last summer, Virgil van Dijk in the winter and Alisson a few weeks back.

The Blues wanted all three of those players, but the trio were sold on Liverpool by Jurgen Klopp and the manager’s wonderful vision for the club.

And we’ve no doubts that if Liverpool wanted to gazump Chelsea in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic, we could do it again.

The Mirror says Chelsea are in talks for the £65m American, with BVB potentially willing to cash in now and avoid the risk of losing him for less money next summer, as his contract expires in 2020 and as of yet he’s showed no sign of putting pen to paper.

Despite Xherdan Shaqiri’s impressive friendly debut as a central playmaker, Klopp wanted a new creative midfielder this summer and hasn’t yet gone for one since the breakdown of the Nabil Fekir deal.

Pulisic is someone he’s long admired, as the Mirror report confirms, with Liverpool even having bids for the teenager rejected in 2016.

He can play either on the wing or in the middle, so would be a very handy addition to an already exceptional squad, which has been bolstered this window by Fabinho, Naby Keita, Alisson and Shaqiri.

Pulisic would be the icing on the cake, and we have no doubt that if Klopp really wanted him, Liverpool could acquire him over our Premier League rivals – who are not in the Champions League and change manager practically every season.
