Klopp blown away by ‘exceptional’ new signing in training

Alisson has been so impressive during Liverpool’s Evian training camp, that Jurgen Klopp is going to throw him straight into the side for the friendlies with Napoli and Torino, before the opening day of the Premier League season with West Ham.

The giant Brazilian goalkeeper arrived from Roma for a world-record £66m fee a few weeks back; becoming the most expensive gloveman in the history of the game – so it’s perhaps no surprise.

Already, clips of his saves in training have gone viral and Liverpool fans cannot wait to see him guard our sticks.

“It’s pretty likely [he’ll make his debut]. We should not waste time,” Klopp told the official website.

“Then it’ll be nearly a week, or six days in training, since he [started] and yes, he will play.

“I’m very pleased [to be able to work with him], but first of all it’s very important he can start now because the season starts in one-and-a-half weeks. Each player in the world needs training and time to adapt to his mates.

“We have two games to do that before we start, so it’s really good.

“He obviously has a real presence, he’s smart, he’s very nice and it’s good to have him around.

“It’s only positive, even the performances in training – which is not too important in the beginning – are already exceptional, so all good.”

As well as Alisson, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho have been training, while Naby Keita is easing his way back in following a neck problem picked up on one of the long-haul pre-season flights stateside.

Hopefully though, he’ll be fit to feature against Napoli on Saturday – in what we imagine will be a strong side that will be quite similar to the one that’ll face the Hammers on August 12.

Our current prediction of the West Ham starting XI looking something like this: Alisson; Clyne, Robertson, VVD, Gomez; Fabinho, Keita, Shaqiri; Mane, Salah, Firmino
