Liverpool are currently third seeds for the Champions League Group Stages, despite reaching the final last term, due to new rules about domestic finishing positions having greater impact.
But there’s a chance we can be second seeds if results in qualifiers go our way…

But if Benfica fail to qualify in their play-off against Fenerbahce (taking place on August 7 and 14), then Liverpool will take their spot in Pot 2 – and theoretically provide us an easier Group Stage draw.
At the moment, before qualifiers have entered the Groups, the seedings look like this – although it is subject to change:
Pot 1: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Man City, Lokomotiv Moscow
Pot 2: Borussia Dortmund, Porto, Man United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Napoli, Tottenham, Roma
Pot 3: Liverpool, Schalke, Lyon, Monaco, CSKA Moscow
Pot 4: Inter Milan, Hoffenheim, Valencia, Viktoria Plzen, Club Brugge, Galatasaray
So… An ideal group right now could look like this: Lokomotiv, Liverpool, Schalke, Viktoria Plzen, while a nightmare group could be drawn as such: Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, Inter Milan…
Now that would be fun!
