A few Liverpool fans have not forgiven Gary Neville for his previous criticism of summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri.
The former Manchester United man, as well as his brother Phil, were hugely critical of the Switzerland international for the way he conducted himself at Stoke City during their relegation last season, as referenced in this Telegraph piece.

In case you missed the game last night, Shaqiri came on as a sub and was excellent as we thrashed Napoli 5-0.
The 26-year-old really looks like he could make a big impact at Anfield despite being written off by the Neville brothers, so a few LFC fans are really letting Gary have it on Twitter.
Dam that Shaqiri guy is real lazy huh he just don't care his attitude stinks @GNev2 13m ? Hmm 🙄Gary Neville talks like every player at United is perfect but any excuse to have a go at our players I can't wait to listen to him all season..should be fun.🙄😴 https://t.co/nnzk1ouGga

Looking forward to Gary Neville eating humble pie. Shaqiri was playing in the worst of teams. Klopp is bringing the best out of him.

Well, watching Shaqiri so far makes me realise Gary Neville is no better a judge of players now, than he was during his hilarious run as Valenica manager!

Correct me if I’m wrong but how can the Neville brothers and Adam say all this Shaqiri? He’s not stopped running.

To be clear my comments on Shaqiri were long before he was linked with Liverpool. Now he’s joined you I can really get stuck in . Night night 😂 https://t.co/Zc5YfaJFrG

Various tweets show fans targeting the pundit over his Shaqiri comments, though he’s simply tweeted that he plans to carry on – especially as he’s now a Liverpool player!
Bring it on, Gary, you’re going to be made to look very silly (well, sillier) by the end of the season…
