“He’s settled really quick” – Klopp impressed with Liverpool summer signing

Liverpool could hand Alisson his competitive debut against West Ham United on Sunday, and Jurgen Klopp is relaxed about his new recruit’s potential impact.

As per The Guardian, we opted to splash out around £65m on the Brazilian international this summer to help to continue to shore things up at the back.

Both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have had well-documented struggles in recent years, and so a reliable figure between the posts was exactly what we needed this summer to push on and build on what we achieved last season.

Having impressed for Roma last year as well as establishing himself as a permanent fixture for Brazil at the World Cup earlier this summer, we certainly hope that Alisson is now the player to fill the position for years to come.

Ahead of what could be his competitive debut for the Reds this weekend, Klopp has revealed that he has full faith in his new recruit given the calmness that he has shown since arriving at the club.

“Just be a goalkeeper. Be yourself, in this case, because he is very calm and laid back – and that helps,” he told Sky Sports.

“It’s about making the right decisions in the right moments. It’s all good. He’s settled really quick, as if he’s been here longer than two weeks. That’s all fine.”

The real test will of course come when he takes to the pitch in a competitive game and to see how he deals with the pressure and responsibility in key moments.

Nevertheless, based on what we’ve seen of him so far in his career, he seems to relish the big stage and he will hopefully continue that trend with us.
