Liverpool injury news: Klopp set to receive boost ahead of West Ham clash

Liverpool’s opening game of the Premier League season is fast approaching as West Ham United will visit Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

As we’ll be looking to make a positive start to the new campaign, Jurgen Klopp would undoubtedly love to have as close to a fully-fit squad at his disposal as possible.

In turn, as per the club site, the suggestion that James Milner will recover from a head injury to be available for selection will likely be music to the ears of the Reds boss.

Milner sustained his injury in the pre-season game against Napoli last week, and Klopp did paint a positive picture on his condition in his press conference on Friday.

However, the latest update would suggest that the 32-year-old will likely be available, handing us another quality option against the Hammers if necessary.

Milner was a key figure for us last season, making 47 appearances in all competitions, racking up 11 assists and a goal in those outings while showcasing his versatility to perform in various positions too.

While the cut shouldn’t be a long-term setback anyway, it will be a boost for us if he can make the match-day squad this weekend and at least be available for Klopp if required.

As noted by the Liverpool Echo, with Dejan Lovren ruled out along with Ragnar Klavan as well as doubts over the fitness of Fabinho, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and other internationals who featured at the World Cup, Klopp has enough issues as it is.
