Liverpool trio tipped to make debuts against West Ham

Jurgen Klopp could potentially hand three of our summer signings their competitive debuts as Liverpool prepare to face West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

From bouncing back from the disappointment of how last season ended to setting the tone for the campaign ahead, it’s hoped that the Reds can get the desired result when the Hammers visit Anfield this weekend.

It’s always positive to start with a win and boost confidence, and so Klopp would undoubtedly have been hoping to have all of his new recruits available for selection.

As per the club site, Alisson, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri are all said to be pushing to make their competitive debuts for us, although doubts remain over Fabinho’s participation after Klopp revealed in his press conference on Friday that the Brazilian was sent home due to illness.

Coupled with the late return of some of our World Cup stars, it does complicate matters for the Reds. Nevertheless, having focused on strengthening our group this summer, it’s hoped we have the quality and depth to deal with it.

Shaqiri impressed Klopp during pre-season, with the Liverpool boss describing his ability to adapt to his system and style so quickly as “not normal”, as per The Telegraph, and so that would suggest that the Swiss international is ready to make an immediate impact.

Nevertheless, the most important thing will be the result regardless of who plays, and having won the last three league meetings against West Ham, scoring 12 and conceding just two, it’s hoped that run continues this weekend.
