Andy Gray has savaged Sturridge & it’s totally out of order

Daniel Sturridge has been about as unlucky with his fitness as any current Premier League footballer.

No fan, pundit or manager would argue that and it’s meant the striker has been unable to fully fulfil his incredible potential.

But this summer, Sturridge missed the World Cup (because he wasn’t selected), worked his socks off, got himself back in Jurgen Klopp’s reckoning and has shown a fantastic attitude.

On the first day of the season, Sturridge came off the bench (which he hasn’t once complained about potentially being on since returning from WBA) and scored with his first touch.

But after the game, Andy Gray decided to criticise him, basically calling him a bottler and suggesting it’s only a matter of time before he lets every down.

“I have doubted his desire to put himself out there on the football pitch time and time again,” he told beIN Sports, cited by Football365.

“Listen, it’s a great start for him. I’m not going overboard about Daniel Sturridge but there’s too many times when he’s let too many people down.”

Is that really necessary? What a fool.

Sturridge has the backing of Liverpool fans, anyway, and it was superb to see him dancing at Anfield again.

He looks a new man with a new attitude and we’re going to be nothing but positive until he gives us a reason not to be.
