Sadio Mane and Naby Keita linked up v West Ham like they’d been playing together for years…
But in a way, they have! The pair were at Red Bull Salzburg before getting their break in a bigger European league. Mane went to Southampton and Keita to Rb Leipzig, before both signing for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.
They were great friends in Austria and Mane, who’s been at Anfield for exactly two years, reckons his new (old) teammate will continue to improve and do wonders.
“I’m happy for him. He played very, very well. Everybody was happy about the job he did for us,” Mane told club website.
“The beginning is not easy for new players, to learn about the guys. He will do better and better for us because he has great quality.”
Keita was sensational against the Irons, but Mane quietly put in a scintillating two-goal salvo himself.
Because the Guinean will play on the left of our midfield three, and Mane on the left of the front-three, they’ll have plenty of opportunities to link up – with marauding left-back Andrew Robertson providing sensational support down the flank.
That trio made our first goal at the weekend and will be automatic starters throughout the campaign.
