Chelsea also turned down Nabil Fekir option…

Chelsea were in talks for Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir towards the end of the Premier League transfer window, but pulled out of a deal after deciding they had enough options in attacking midfield.

Goal made this claim today, with the France international somehow remaining at Lyon, despite being linked to multiple European behemoths throughout the summer – most notably Liverpool – who agreed a fee, contract and everything in between for Fekir – only for the 24-year-old to fail his medical.

Many Reds assumed we’d simply go back in for Fekir late on and try to get him at a reduced price, but this never materialised – with Jurgen Klopp deciding the options at his disposal were good enough as well.

Xherdan Shaqiri’s tremendous pre-season and how creative Naby Keita has proven to be are both likely reasons for this.

We fully back that pair, as well as our mind-boggling front-three, Daniel Sturridge and the rest, to do us proud all season.

Hopefully this is the last Fekir article we’ll have to write!
