James Milner breaks Premier League record & extends insane unbeaten run

James Milner further enhanced his reliable reputation from the spot on Monday as he helped Liverpool to a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The Reds’ captain on the night picked up where he left off against West Ham with another outstanding all-action performance.

A spotlight on the club’s new signings Alisson and Naby Keita and formidable front three couldn’t ignore another tireless display from the Englishman.

Milner was at hand to give the Reds a welcomed breakthrough on the stroke of half-time when he calmly converted from the penalty spot after Mohamed Salah had been brought down by Mamadou Sakho.

In doing so, he became the first player in Premier League history to make it eight goals in a row from 12 yards.

The 32-year-old proved a key obstacle in thwarting Palace’s counterattacking threat, prevailing in a number of duels with danger man Wilfried Zaha.

He also served as complimentary source of creativity with his linking presence on the edge of the penalty area and efforts to stretch Palace by regularly switching the play.

Another inspired outing marked further evidence of the tough route to a starting place that summer acquisition Fabinho faces.

The eventual win at Selhurst Park extended Milner’s incredible run of being unbeaten in the 48 Premier League games he has scored in.
