Klopp defends Liverpool transfer decision

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has defended paying so much to seal the transfer of goalkeeper Alisson from Roma this summer.

I mean, duh, the guy is an absolute baller and had another superb game against Brighton in our Premier League win yesterday, ending this guy’s career with a sublime piece of skill and then helping us hold on to all three points with a late wonder-save.

Still, he obviously cost a lot of money for a goalkeeper – hell, he was even the most expensive player of all time in his position for, what, a few days? Chelsea then ruined that by spending colossal amounts on, in our opinion, the vastly less special Kepa Arrizabalaga. Alisson looks an absolute bargain by comparison as the transfer market continues to go mental.

So it’s hardly surprising to see these quotes from Klopp after the game, defending paying so much for the Brazilian shot-stopper, and saying, once again that we didn’t decide his fee.

‘Was there criticism in England over Alisson’s fee? I thought spending big (was the thing),’ Klopp is quoted in the Echo.

‘I couldn’t be less interested in that, by the way. We did it because we were convinced. We didn’t make the price.

‘We just wanted the player and the owners gave us the opportunity. It’s all good.’
