Former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson has claimed he’s always been a big Liverpool fan.

The Swede is currently out of a job, but was one of the most famous people in the country between 2001 and 2006 when he managed the national team, taking charge of our so-called Golden Generation at the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.
“I’ve always been a Liverpool fan. I can say that now, I couldn’t say that when I was in England but I was always since I was [young]. My father as well, he is 90, still a Liverpool fan,” he told Sky Sports.
“But I still think City will win it.”
We actually believe Steven Gerrard’s failure to reach the heights he did for Liverpool at England level is entirely Sven’s fault.
The 70-year-old picked a 4-4-2 formation, religiously, despite having two central midfielders in Frank Lampard and our ex-captain who desperately needed an anchor.
As Gerrard was more tactically disciplined, Lampard got to bomb on and Stevie had to grumpily ignore all his footballing instincts, made worse by the fact Sven didn’t give him the armband, either.
Still, what does it all matter now?!
Sven might fancy a crack at the Liverpool job, but we’re pretty sure he’ll be quite far down the pecking order once Jurgen Klopp steps down – following failed spells at three Chinese sides – among others!
