Fabinho has been used as a holding midfielder since 2015…
He dominated in the role for AS Monaco the past three years, earning a blockbuster move to Liverpool this summer.
But in the upcoming fixtures for Brazil against USA and El Salvador, it looks like Fabinho will start as a right-back instead.
Klopp delivers Fabinho playing hint…
He’s the only senior player called up who’s capable of playing the position, and interestingly, he was named in the ‘defenders’ category when the squad was released.
Fabinho played at right-back for Real Madrid, temporarily, but he doesn’t have the pace and overlapping instincts of a modern fullback, so it’s a strange one.
Still, we’re just happy he’s going to get some minutes.
In September, out fixture schedule ramps up and we’ll definitely see the 24-year-old make his full Liverpool debut.
We reckon his first start could be in the EFL Cup against Chelsea, although we might see him v Southampton in the Premier League, too.
Roberto Firmino and Alisson are also expected to start for Brazil during the international break.
