Archive interview proves Rabiot may want Liverpool switch

Jurgen Klopp has earmarked Adrien Rabiot as a target for next summer.

At the moment, it looks like the Frenchman may be available on a free transfer, as he isn’t extending terms on his current contract which expires in 2019.

As a result, Liverpool could legally secure him for 2019/20 on January 1, just four months away.

ESPNFC broke the news today, also claiming that Klopp has already discussed the potential transfer with both player and agent via the phone.

And we reckon that with Klopp’s powers of persuasion, we might be onto a winner, especially considering the player has previously named us a club he’d specifically like to join.

“I would love to play in the Premier League, not necessarily one club in particular, even though I was very fond of Liverpool when I was young,” he told RMC in October.

ESPN claim Barcelona will likely still want Rabiot, but we’ve proven with the acquisition of Naby Keita that we can lure players to Anfield over Camp Nou.

If we can acquire Rabiot for free, it would be mighty smart business and save us the £60m-odd it would have cost to get Nabil Fekir.
