We think it was maybe an error not to send Dom Solanke on loan this summer.
The Englishman is 20-years-old and in need of playing time, but hasn’t received a minute of first-team football yet this campaign.

He currently has Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi ahead of him in the pecking order, too, meaning we’re not even sure he’ll get a runout in the EFL Cup.
Aidy Boothroyd, the current England U21 manager, has expressed concerns about the fact he isn’t playing for Liverpool during the international break.
“I’m really pleased with Dom but I’m also a little bit worried about him because he is not getting the minutes and not getting the games,” he told the Telegraph.
“I am happy on the pitch picking the best players, but for the good of England and for the good of British football it would be nicer if we had more players playing, certainly better for us and for them.
“Our players have proved they can do it at international level but not as many of them as there should be are getting the opportunity to do that in the Premier League.”
If he remains on the sidelines, perhaps we can send him somewhere in January. Ideally, Solanke would get a starting spot for Premier League side, but this is tricky, too.
Clubs in the bottom half usually prefer to use experienced forwards in their battle to avoid dreaded relegation, while top half sides have more established names already leading their line.
A Championship loan could do Solanke some good, but we’ve seen a number of our youngsters stagnate in that division away from the proper development Jurgen Klopp can give them on the training ground.
