PSG boss admits he has no ‘influence’ over Rabiot’s contract amid LFC interest

Liverpool are one of a number of sides who’ve been linked to Adrien Rabiot of PSG.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season and is therefore available on a Bosman come January, although Barcelona and Manchester City have also stated their interest, according to ESPN.

PSG’s manager Thomas Tuchel has boldly stated Rabiot’s brilliance, but admitted he cannot force him to stay due to his contract situation.

“I really like Adrien, really,” Tuchel told RMC. “I appreciate him.

“There was a difficult situation after the World Cup that he missed but Adrien has showed incredible willingness from the first day of training. He has never missed a training session, not a single thing — we can really trust him and count on him.

“Adrien is good, physically, and he is essential for us. He has huge potential, which is also true of Alphonse [Areola]. Adrien comes from the youth academy and it is very important to have players like him here, to encourage them, support them and place them at the heart of the project.

“I love working with Adrien and I have no influence over the rest.”

Rabiot is a technically superb, youthful midfielder with title-winning and Champions League experience, so for free, he’s really a no-brainer.

Liverpool have downplayed our interest to the Echo, but we believe this is simply a smokescreen the club puts up to local sources after what happened with the Virgil van Dijk deal.

Jurgen Klopp’s admired Rabiot for years and we’re pretty sure if he enters discussions with the Frenchman, the playmaker will set his heart on an Anfield switch, like they all seem to!
