(Video) Liverpool loanee starts & finishes excellent team goal in 4-0 win

Ryan Kent opened his scoring account for Rangers on Saturday with a superb team move in a 4-0 win over Dundee.

It marked a timely boost for the winger following a tricky start to life with the Scottish club following his season-long loan move from Liverpool.

Kent left the Reds in the summer in search of regular first team football under the guidance of Anfield legend Steven Gerrard, who also plucked Ovie Ejaria from Liverpool’s youth setup.

His debut goal marked the familiar glimpses of flair materialising into the kind of end product that his development demands at this point.

The goal arrived when Kent carved his way through the Dundee defence with some excellent link-up play with Alfredo Morelos and Scott Arfield on the edge of the box, before calmly slotting home from close range.

The move exhibited the initiative and responsibility Kent is visibly capable of but hasn’t quite displayed enough of in recent seasons.

Having struggled at Freiburg and Bristol City last season, a spell at Rangers is an ideal chance to play 90 minutes on a weekly basis and assert himself as a leading technician amid the club’s rebuild under Gerrard.

Gerrard told Rangers TV: “He was superb and I knew the goals would come. I knew as soon as he started relaxing in front of goal the goals would come. He’s in a terrific place, well done.”

There has never been any doubt over his technical ability, but now is the time for him to start translating the trickery and the bursting runs into goals and assists.
