‘I hate him!’ PL striker’s outrageous comments on Van Dijk go viral

Apart from that time he wrestled Joe Allen to the floor, it’s quite hard not to like Troy Deeney.

He says it how it is, is brutally honest and speaks brilliantly.

Last night, Deeney waxed lyrical about Liverpool’s no.4 Virgil van Dijk – explaining in no uncertain terms why our Dutchman is the best centre-back in the country.

“I’ve said it many times, I hate him,” Deeney told BBC Radio 5 Live’s The Monday Night Club.

“I hate going up against him.

“He’s too big, too strong, too quick, too good on the ball, loves fighting, a good head of hair.

“One of those guys that sprays on his top as well, so it smells lovely! When he runs past you, it’s like ‘I can’t catch you, but…’.”

We cannot vouch for how well van Dijk smells, but week in week out, we see a truly world-class central defender!

He takes every game in his stride, marshals the backline with aplomb, never gets fazed by opponents or mistakes and gets his head on pretty much everything.

It used to be the case that Liverpool were easy to get at with aerial balls and direct football, but that quite simply is no longer the case.

Alisson has also helped calm the defence, and in six Premier League games, we’ve conceded just twice – both consolations.

If our defence can continue playing this superbly, we’ll stand a chance to win every match, considering the firepower also at Klopp’s disposal.
