Mignolet suggests Alisson is Liverpool’s best keeper

Simon Mignolet is extremely professional and in our opinion, has been a credit to himself since he arrived at Liverpool in terms of the manner in which he’s respected the club off the field.

Obviously there have been issues with his ability as a goalkeeper, which saw Loris Karius signed in 2016 and then Alisson for a world-record fee this summer just gone.

While Karius has departed to Turkey, Mignolet has remained as the Brazilian’s understudy, with Alisson yet to lose a game between Liverpool’s sticks.

The Belgian has lauded his team-mate and claimed that Liverpool have a right to field the ‘best’ goalkeeper every time.

“Me and Alisson work together on a good basis,” Mignolet told the official club website.

“Our relationship has been good ever since we came together and then we’ve got a few younger boys who are pushing us forward as well.

“We have a good group and the only thing we can do is put out the best goalkeeper for Liverpool. In the end, that’s the most important thing.”

There’s little argument as to who is the superior stopper, in fairness.

Mignolet is unlikely to play again until January at the earliest, following our EFL Cup exit.

Alisson will start the Premier League and Champions League barring injury and we’re so far extremely pleased with his performances in net.

Not only is Alisson a top shot-stopper, but his distribution is brilliant and he exerts a calmness in his defenders that neither Mignolet or Karius ever did.
