Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri reacted with class and grace at the end of the game at Stamford Bridge, with the Reds’ late equaliser doing nothing to spoil his enjoyment of the spectacle.

It was a closely fought clash, with quality on both sides, and Sarri was happy to accept the Reds deserved to get something from the match.

Sarri told BBC Sport: “We have played against a top level team. I am happy with the performance and disappointed they scored in the last moments, but the draw was the right result.

“The match was beautiful. Wonderful goals scored by wonderful players.”

The former Napoli coach is a fan of attractive football, but it would have been so easy to get carried away in the moment and react very differently.

Sarri added: “I had a smile on my face at the end with Jurgen Klopp because I enjoyed it.”

Like the banner in the away end that read, ‘Justice for Grenfell’, this was a moment of class.
