Daniel Sturridge has praised ‘world-class’ Alisson for his role in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Saturday.
The goalkeeper made a series of vital saves to deny the hosts from extending their lead as his own teammates were searching for an equaliser.
Alisson might well have been disappointed not to get down low to Eden Hazard’s opener, but will have taken plenty of confidence from the authority he proceeded to command his box with.
A standout moment in the first-half saw him in the perfect starting position to meet Willian in a one-on-one situation, before standing tall to block his fellow countryman’s prodded effort.
He was involved in a similar situation later in the game, saving with his feet to prevent a clean through Hazard from grabbing his and Chelsea’s second.
Sturridge himself was at hand to take advantage of the Brazilian’s excellence when he came off the bench to score a magnificent long-range equaliser in the 89th minute.
Describing his goalkeeper’s efforts, the striker told Liverpoolfc.com: “Top drawer.”
“He had a great game. He was unfortunate not to get a clean sheet but he’s a world-class goalkeeper, as is Si (Mignolet). We’ve got some good young goalkeepers at the club too but he’s showing his qualities and it was just important to keep going.”
“Our defence have been really good also and they have had a lot of clean sheets so far this season, and they will be upset they haven’t got one today but I think all in all it’s probably a fair result.”
