Pep shares shock double injury news in presser before Liverpool clash

Not only is Kevin de Bruyne in contention to face Liverpool on Sunday, but first-choice left-back Benjamin Mendy is too.

It was thought that the crunch clash between ourselves and Manchester City would come too soon for the superb duo, but according to Sky Sports, Pep Guardiola claimed both could play at Anfield.

However, Ilkay Gundogan, who’s been so good in de Bruyne’s absence, is unlikely to play following the injury he picked up midweek in the Champions League.

We reckon City could start in a 3-5-2 formation with Aymeric Laporte, Vincent Kompany and John Stones at the back, with Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy as marauding wing-backs.

In midfield, Fernandinho, David Silva and Bernardo Silva could start, with de Bruyne available off the bench.

Raheem Sterling has been phenomenal for City, but he’s always dire at Anfield and we can see Sergio Aguero partnering Gabriel Jesus up top, with Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez electrifying potential subs.
