Klopp takes surprise stance on Kevin de Bruyne injury return

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed that he wants Manchester City’s star man Kevin de Bruyne to return from injury in time to start at Anfield – because he wants to show City his side can beat them regardless.

De Bruyne was Mo Salah’s main threat to the Player of the Year award last season, and is a sensational player; he had been ruled out for three months with an injury but returned a month or so early, meaning he could feature today.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp said: “I really like him as a player. When did his injury happen? August? Now it’s October. That’s really quick – unbelievable. I don’t know what happened because in England you don’t get real information about injuries.

“Kevin is still at an age where he can improve a lot. There is a lot more to come. What do I admire about him? His talent, skills, attitude and then with all those things, decision making.

“We want to beat City – that’s no secret. But we want to beat the best City, and De Bruyne, for sure, is part of the best City team.”

The Reds’ task would surely be made easier by De Bruyne being absent, but it is an admirable view to take from the boss.
