Mirror journalist Dave Maddock has confirmed that his problem is indeed with his ankle and not the knee, which was widely suggested on Twitter after the news initially broke.

Of course, Fekir was due to sign for Liverpool during the summer, until a medical showed up an underlying knee issue and we pulled out of the transfer, despite having already agreed personal terms and done the playmaker’s introductory club interviews.

Fekir had been flying this season and put Manchester City to the sword in the Champions League, which left many Liverpool fans regretting the fact he’s not playing in red.

At times, our midfield has lacked creativity and ingenuity, the type Fekir prides himself on.

Followed the failed transfer, many Reds have obsessed over the 25-year-old, but there’s no suggestion the club is still interested.

Hopefully, Naby Keita will soon find his feet and start providing the creativity centrally we could use.
