How Zidane left Real Madrid because of Bale & Salah

There’s a very interesting feature in Spanish newspaper El Pais (translated by the Mirror), which makes big claims about goings on at Real Madrid and Liverpool this summer just gone.

Los Blancos won the Champions League under Zinedine Zidane, beating Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in the final, thanks to two goals from Gareth Bale and one from Karim Benzema.

According to El Pais, Bale’s match-winning performance (aided of course by Loris Karius) convinced Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he wasn’t going to sell the Welshman, despite promising Zidane previously that he would.

Zidane had planned to cash in on Bale and use the money to launch a transfer assault on our very own Mo Salah – but Perez refused and the Frenchman quit – after three European Cups on the trot.

There was zero concrete interest in Salah, who signed a massive new contract, over the summer, but after what happened in Kiev, we cannot imagine the Egyptian would have demanded a Bernabeu switch.

How could you go and play for a team whose captain purposely injured you in the biggest game of the you career…?
