Besiktas boss to pull Karius out of firing line as he’s worried about pressure on German

Loris Karius hasn’t necessarily had the smoothest of transitions from England to Turkey.

The German has put in some top performances, but also let in a clanger in the Europa League defeat to Malmo recently – which naturally went viral – like all of his mistakes now will.

According to Fotomac, Besiktas manager Senol Gunes will not use Karius against Genk and bring in Tolga Zengin instead – due to there being too much pressure on the German stopper.

It seems that moving abroad has not made the focus on Karius’s career any dimmer following his mistakes in the Champions League Final.

In front of the watching world, Karius conceded two abysmal goals, which were later attributed to a concussion he picked up from a Sergio Ramos elbow.

Karius is on a two-year loan at Besiktas, at which point they’ll be forced to buy him permanently, but only if he’s played a certain percentage of matches in domestic and European competition.

We hope that if the report is true and Karius is benched, he deals with it well and eventually gets himself back in the side when the pressure is a little less.

For him though, every performance will forever be scrutinised after what happened in Kiev.
