‘Looks tremendous’ – Klopp boasts midfielder’s form in training after injury

Jurgen Klopp has been incredibly impressed by Adam Lallana in training following the midfielder’s timely return from injury.

The Liverpool star is in contention to feature in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Huddersfield having been sidelined with a groin injury since the international break at the beginning of September.

Lallana’s only action so far this season has come in the form of a three minute cameo in the win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park back in August.

He now marks a valuable depth option as Klopp readies himself to make necessary team rotations across a busy winter schedule for the club.

Discussing Lallana’s impression since his recovery, Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “Now it’s getting a bit difficult with judging how fit he is really. But training looks tremendous; he obviously enjoys playing football.

“We will see what we do. Nobody, not even he, knows how long he can [play] and stuff like that. We still want to be careful – not too careful but, of course, careful [so] that we reach the point where we don’t have to think about it anymore.”

“He is 100 per cent back and looks really good in training.”

Lallana’s return comes at an ideal time following the news of Naby Keita’s hamstring injury whilst on international duty with Guinea.

The summer signing is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks, meaning he is likely to miss Saturday’s visit to the John Smith’s Stadium as well as the mid-week Champions League clash with Red Star Belgrade.

Liverpool will undoubtedly adopt a cautious approach to reintegrating Lallana in consideration of his injury-stricken 2017/2018 campaign.

He managed just 15 appearances last season due to a hamstring injury sustained during the pre-season defeat to Atletico Madrid.

The Englishman thought he had made his comeback in March’s win over Crystal Palace, only to suffer a recurrence of the problem and subsequently miss five more league games.

He could now serve as welcomed help for Liverpool in an attacking sense amid their recent lack of midfield creativity.
