Oxlade-Chamberlain makes fresh progress in injury rehab

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has taken another encouraging stride in his recovery from multiple knee ligament damage.

The Liverpool star is in the middle of a lengthy rehab process for treatment on the injury he sustained during April’s Champions League semi-final first-leg against Roma.

Despite being unlikely to feature competitively this season, the midfielder has maintained an admirable resilience after seeing perhaps the best form his career cruelly halted.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made notable progress on Thursday as he was seen running on an anti-gravity treadmill.

His latest step follows on from a key development in September, when the former Arsenal man began passing a ball again for the first time since being sidelined.

The 25-year-old has been dearly missed by Liverpool in recent weeks, with the Reds severely lacking midfield creativity in support of their misfiring front three.

Without a conventional no.10 to occupy the space between the opposition defence and midfield, Jurgen Klopp’s men have been struggling to compensate for the loss of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s bursting runs between the lines.

This hasn’t been aided by the recent hamstring injury to Naby Keita, who had been a leading candidate to inject an attacking impetus into midfield.

Away from the pitch, it’s great to see Oxlade-Chamberlain working with a smile on his face amid arguably the most difficult period of his career.
