Henderson dismisses Liverpool criticism as “nonsense”

Jordan Henderson has rubbished claims that Liverpool have become more defensive in his programme notes ahead of the match against Red Star Belgrade.

Via the Daily Star, he said: “I know there is a lot of discussion externally at the moment about how we are getting results and comparisons being made to previous Liverpool sides of the last few years.

“It’s not a case of looking to sacrifice adventure and attack to become more solid. I think some of the football we have played so far this season has been as good as anything at this stage of a campaign I’ve been involved with.

“So far we’ve been unlucky in front of goal. I really don’t buy into the talk that they’re not as fluid as they were last season – that’s nonsense for me.”

The Reds have conceded just three times in nine Premier League matches – a club record – and are joint-top of the table, so we certainly aren’t worried. The attack could click at any moment, and when it does, it’ll be spectacular.
