Alisson reveals how he became a goalkeeper

Alisson Becker has been almost perfect since he arrived from Roma in the summer – and he has revealed how it was that he became a goalkeeper in the first place.

The Reds’ stopper told LiverpoolFC.com“I have a family of goalkeepers: my father played for his work team, my mother played handball in school, and my grandfather played in amateur football. And after all this, came my brother playing and then I started to like it, too.

“I started to watch him training and then started feeling passion for the position. It’s in my blood, it’s in my family, so I started to follow them.”

We’re very glad he followed in his family’s footsteps – and his hard work and long training hours have paid off.

The Brazilian added: “What comes into my mind when I think about my old times is when I played with my uncles and my cousins.

“We always met and played together in front of my house. Almost always I went in goal – my uncles would be shooting the ball at me like they were in training!”

Alisson has been so good this season – thank goodness he decided to follow in the wake of his family!
