Bizarre report claims Loris Karius is ‘to be sent back to Liverpool’

According to Turkish Football, via their source at Fotomac, Besiktas are unhappy with the performances of on-loan Loris Karius and are hopeful that the Reds will agree to take the goalkeeper back in January.

They say Besiktas want to take Divock Origi instead on the exact same terms, which are believed to be a two-year loan deal automatically made permanent as long as the player plays at least 50% of Besiktas’ matches in that time.

The report suggests that Liverpool chief scout Barry Hunter will compile a detailed assessment of Karius’ performances before the Reds decide their next move, but given Origi was valued at £27 million in the summer, it seems unlikely to be sanctioned.

Bizarrely, the report also claims that Karius remains Besiktas’ number one goalkeeper and will start tonight when they face Rizespor – he can’t be underperforming that badly, then.

It’s certainly a strange suggestion for what should be done with the two players. The only thing we know for sure is that neither player has a future with the Reds.
