Klopp discusses January transfer plans, having decided against Fekir in summer

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp doesn’t think we’ll enter the market this winter, with the window opening up again in less than two months!

The boss was discussing the possibilities of transfers following yesterday’s press-conference, with Liverpool playing Arsenal at the Emirates at 5:15 today.

During the summer, we made big moves and brought in Alisson, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri – having already secured Naby Keita a year previous on a future deal.

We were inches away from Nabil Fekir, but pulled out at the last minute when a complication arose during his medical – but Klopp is happy with the options at his disposal.

“If crazy things happen then maybe we have to think new but I don’t expect that,” Klopp told the Echo.

“At the moment it doesn’t look like we will be too busy but it all depends on injuries and things like that. In the moment we have each position twice, three times and sometimes four times covered.

“I don’t think there is any reason to try to do something really big like bring in another striker.

“We have all that we need. Our job now is to use the quality that we have and to work with it because one player doesn’t change it.”

We can’t argue with this. Rhian Brewster will return from injury and offer us something in attack potentially, while Keita will surely become a more prominent option, having so far struggled to settle into the team due to niggling injuries.

Our bench is the strongest it’s been, maybe ever, and there isn’t an area of the team we’d consider a weakness, considering the success of Shaqiri as a playmaker.

This current squad can take us as far as it wants to go!
