The remarkable statistic that James Milner extended against Arsenal

James Milner has had an excellent season so far, scoring a rare Reds goal from open play yesterday, and he extended a simply incredible personal record in the process.

When Milner has been on the scoresheet in the Premier League, his side have never lost the match.

Yesterday saw him notch his 50th career goal in England’s top flight; only once has he scored a brace, meaning in the 49 matches in which Milner has scored, he is undefeated.

Across that period, he has been on the winning side 38 times – in games against Manchester United and Swansea City, for example, for Liverpool – and there have been 11 draws, including yesterdays at the Emirates.

The record stretches all the way back to 2002 when Milner made his debut for Leeds United at the age of 16 when he scored his first in the Premier League.

The Reds’ midfield does need to contribute a few more goals – and if they can be undefeated when they do score, that would be a bonus!
