Klopp responds to Serbian journo asking about Buvac

The Zeljko Buvac situation remains largely unexplained to Liverpool fans.

What we officially know is that the Serb, who had worked as Jurgen Klopp’s no.2 at various clubs since 2001, left the club just before our Champions League semi-final with AS Roma last season.

Technically, he’s still listed as an employee, but that’s only because he hasn’t yet settled the financial terms of his exit, according to James Pearce.

Why he left when he did, and what happened between Buvac and Klopp, is something we’re not sure will ever come to light.

Ahead of tonight’s game with Serbian champions Red Star, Klopp didn’t bite at a question regarding his former assistant.

In Buvac’s place, Pep Lijnders is acting as our assistant, although he cannot be officially given the role until his predecessor’s exit is announced.

We’re sad that Klopp and Buvac have parted so acrimoniously, especially when much of their success was due to their fantastic mutual relationship.
