Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Red Star Belgrade deserved their victory in the Champions League for their passion, which his players sadly lacked on the night.
Klopp said, via LiverpoolFC.com: “We were not surprised by Red Star’s tactics. In Liverpool we controlled the game, tonight we didn’t.
“We made life a bit too easy tonight, that’s the problem. They deserved it for the passion they showed.
“We have to admit – congratulations Red Star, it was well deserved. They have the three points, we have nothing.”

It is a slight concern that not one of those in red appeared to match the desire shown by the hosts. Too many second balls were won by Red Star and ultimately we never looked like scoring a goal.
The Reds can still qualify for the knockout stages – but an improvement in performance and desire is a must if that is to be the case.
