GK expert explains how Alisson could have done better v Red Star

Alisson is one of many, many Liverpool players who could have done better for Red Star’s second goal on Tuesday evening.

So, although it feels unfair to single him out, we’re certainly not ignoring James Milner’s initial pass which gave away the ball, Gini Wijnaldum allowing Pavkov a free run at our goal and both centre-backs failing to close the attacker down.

But goalkeeping expert David Preece took to Twitter to comment on what we initially thought when we saw replays – that Alisson went with his wrong hand.

If the Brazilian had used his right, it would have been a simpler save, but in fairness – Pavkov did wallop it and Alisson didn’t have much time to react.

Hopefully, Alisson will pick up another clean-sheet against Fulham on Sunday, as it’s been three games without one, now.

We still rate the 26-year-old incredibly highly and feel very lucky to have him guarding our net.

Every keeper makes mistakes and it’s probably better to get them out of the way during a game where nothing else was going right anyway.
