The latest player linked to Liverpool is 18-year-old striker Victor De Baunbag.

The forward stands at 1.91m tall and according to Spanish outlet SPORT, has been on our radar for some time, with the club already alerting his people that we’re keen.

Until reading their report, we’d never heard of the forward, but he currently plays for Mallorca and is likely to make a first-team debut this season!

He currently plays for Mallorca’s reserve side, but drops down to the U19s for big games, such as the upcoming clash with Barcelona’s youngsters.

According to Sport, De Baunbag, a Spanish national of Cameroonian descent, is a prolific goalscorer and natural finisher at youth level.

Liverpool bring in a number of prodigal teenagers from abroad, but the last Academy graduate to properly make the grade is homegrown Trent Alexander-Arnold. We hope Rhian Brewster, acquired from Chelsea, will follow in his footsteps, but the truth is we’ve never had a foreign starlet properly hit the big time at Liverpool.

Emiliano Insua got close and has forged a good career elsewhere. Suso is currently tearing it up in Italy, but left before we saw anything like his current level. Mikel San Jose also has caps for Spain, but didn’t make the Anfield grade.

Perhaps De Baunbag will sign and buck the trend!
