At the time, Jose Mourinho wasn’t giving Salah many chances, and the youngster was failing to take them when they arose.

Eto’o though saw potential even at that stage.

“I hope that Salah remembers the day we were together in Stamford Bridge locker room, after he had a poor performance,” he told kingfut.com. “I asked him to be patient and told him ‘You are a good player and you will become a great player’.

“Salah has turned into that big player and will write his own story through persistence and strong desire. The whole thing depends on Salah himself, he has unbelievable skills and is currently performing at top level that permits him compete for Ballon d’Or.”

The legendary Cameroonian was heavily linked to Liverpool at one point, but ended up at Chelsea and then Everton, before moving to Italy, Turkey and now Qatar.

Salah is 11-years Eto’s junior and hopefully, trophies await. The older man won multiple league titles and Champions Leagues with various clubs and is considered an all-time great. It’d be beautiful to watch Mo do so with Liverpool!
